The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has unveiled a new digital campaign, titled “Experience Ghana”, to help reposition the tourism sector through storytelling, citizen engagement, and digital visibility. The initiative was launched at the GTA’s head office in Accra on Monday, May 4, following several months of discussions. It introduces a new approach to tourism promotion, moving from the traditional model towards proactive digital engagement aimed at promoting domestic tourism.

The campaign aims to bring people together, both as citizens and tourists, as a collective marketing force for the country. The Authority is continuing to pursue its strategy of strengthening the promotion of domestic tourism by installing strategic billboards at key tourism and attraction locations around the country to increase awareness and promote visitor flow.

Domestic tourism expenditure for the 2024/25 period continued to be strong, according to the Ghana Statistical Service. The value of trips by overnight domestic visitors was estimated at GH¢1.83 billion, while domestic tourism expenditure was estimated at GH¢6.69 billion.

Labadi Beach Hotel, Tang Palace Hotel, and Afro Arab Group, among the sponsors and partners, sent messages of solidarity in support of the campaign, which is likely to be extended over several months. Participants will be required to post original content on their social media platforms from national tourist destinations.
